| About Us
We are the Canadian Retired & Income Investors’ Association ("CRIIA"), a not-for-profit corporation formed under Part II of the Canada Corporations Act. We are a grassroots, volunteer organization formed to represent the interests of ordinary Canadian retired and income investors.
Millions of Canadians depend on income from their savings to pay the bills. In recent years, interest rates have fallen dramatically. Term deposits and government bonds that once yielded 6 to 9% now pay only 3 to 4%. This sharp drop has hit Canada's retired and income investors hard. And just recently, a solution embraced by many, higher yielding income trusts, has come under attack by the minority Conservative government. See our Special Report on Income Trusts.
Seniors are already 4 million strong. A wave of 8 million Canadian "baby boomers" are also approaching retirement age and will need viable income investments to sustain their retirement.
Our stakeholders are a large, motivated and growing force in Canadian life. Their voices deserve to be heard on important issues. |
